What is Lymphadema?
Lymphadema is swelling in an arm or leg cause by a Lymphatic System blockage.
This is commonly caused by Lymph Node removal or damage from cancer treatments.
The main symptoms reported by individuals is swelling in the arms or legs which may be accompanied by pain or discomfort.
There are a lot of individuals who struggle with Lymphadema and may be unsure how to treat this. At Prism Recovery, Lymphatic Drainage Massage is offered to assist my clients in treating and managing the symptoms of Lymphadema. This type of treatment is a gentle type of massage which utilises a light pumping techniques to help treat Lymphadema and relieve the pain or discomfort that accompanies this.
Clients tend to not see immediate results from a Lymphatic Drainage Massage, this will take several appointments to begin to notice a difference in symptoms. Clients also report having negative side effects from a Lymphatic Drainage, they may report headaches, nausea, fatigue, and/or cold and flu symptoms.
